Class of 2028 (Y4)

Today, Year 4 started their electricity topic by exploring how to use wires and batteries to make a bulb light up. They worked cooperatively to problem-solve and created simple circuits that made their lamps light up. Great work, Year 4!

We had a great Christmas party afternoon today, playing party games with Year 3 in the hall and then circle time games in our classroom. It was lovely to see the children helping and encouraging each other in the games. We wish all our families a very happy Christmas, from Year 4.

Year 4 have been learning to play a melody called 'March of the Golden Guards' on glockenspiels. They have also used given notes to improvise their own melodies with a backing track. The result was very musical - albeit noisy! Well done, Year 4!

Today, Year 4 enjoyed a visit to Lancaster City Museum to support their learning about the Romans. They investigated the purpose of different artefacts from Romans times and learnt about the presence of the Romans in Lancaster for 400 years.

In gymnastics today, the children were working in pairs to create balances that mirrored each other. There were some great examples of balances that showed control and good mirroring and the children used the skills of listening and cooperation very well. Well done, Year 4!

This half term, we are learning about sound in science. For our introductory lesson today, we learnt that sound is the result of vibrations and we used musical instruments to explore this. 

Year 4 had a wonderful afternoon enjoying a Lego Coding Workshop today. First, they worked together to build their robots. Next, they used coding to program their robots. Finally, the children enjoyed racing or battling their robots against each other. There was a lot of learning and even more…
