For Safer Internet Day, Year 5 began by listing all the amazing things the internet can be used for – we all agreed it is a fantastic tool. We then listed the things that make it unsafe and were surprised by the size of the list. The children considered different scenarios and what to do when something online makes us feel uncomfortable. We all recognised the importance of talking to a trusted adult and the children learnt about the report button. We re-visited online safety rules and recorded them on posters. We also looked at how websites try to control our actions through a range of persuasive design features and we talked about how to avoid them. What a lot of learning for one day – well done, Year 5!
