This afternoon, Father John talked to us about the martyrs of England and Wales. He showed us some of the objects that priests who were martyred in Lancaster would have used, including a small 'altar', a chalice, a paten and a missal which was 500 years old! We saw where the martyrs would have walked on their way from Lancaster Castle to be executed and then we ended with a time of prayer in the Cathedral. We reflected on how precious the Catholic faith was to these courageous martyrs who gave their lives because of their faith.
